I’m sure that many would agree that a human being has more intelligence than a tree … or at least a different kind of intelligence. Then I ask you, why are we so eager and complacent to intervene in the lives of our children and take it upon ourselves to guide their own growth when we trust all in nature to grow without our assistance?
From conception to birth we trust completely this universal force to guide the growth and development of the child, from a single cell all the way to a complex being with trillions of cells which maintain near perfect harmony. Then as soon as the child is born, as Wayne Dyer put it, we say “Thanks God. We’ll take over from here.” There is a universal force working through all of us that governs not only the creation and development of a child, from a single cell to a fully developed human being able to run, jump, laugh, play, learn, create and love, but which also guides the spiritual growth, evolution and creation of all beings, and is even regulating the function of the trillions of cells in our body in this moment, including your natural ability to heal. What if we trusted this force, which is inherent in all beings, to guide our lives, and most importantly, the lives and development of our children? Your Children are not Your Children I know parents will find this hard to accept, but your children are not really your children. They are children of the universe, direct expressions of the universal intelligence, and we should treat them as such. We hinder their development and growth when we treat them in any other way, such as by believing that they are empty vessels in need of filling, helpless, or any such thing. Look into the eyes of a baby or a young child and you can see they are not an empty ‘blank slate’ as the theory of tabula rasa postulates. In the eyes of young people you can see an abundance of something – energy? vitality? intelligence? potential? life? – but that life seems to be extinguished from their eyes all too soon, and is only present in the eyes of the most vibrant and youthful adults. The only reason it appears that we don’t know anything when we are young is because we are one hundred percent attention, and are busy absorbing everything in our surroundings as we adjust to this level of reality. Imagine going to a new country which you knew nothing about and did not speak the language. You would look just like an infant. Sitting quietly, patiently observing everything. You would also be doing a lot of pointing at things and unintelligible grunts and squeals, trying to get your point across. Now imagine going from an existence where you are pure, infinite, and formless energy, and having your spirit condensed to the level of vibration that is necessary to operate at this level of reality, in this body. It merely takes a little bit of time to get used to this plane and figure things out is all. Yet even still we learn at an extremely rapid rate, which is a testament to our inherent intelligence. Age is an illusion. It’s a false belief stemming from the misconception that a human is their physical body. We are infinite spiritual beings making the conscious decision to manifest this body – and incarnate into it – for a specific purpose. We choose our bodies, and we choose our lives; all we need is the time and the freedom to discover what our resulting purpose in life is. Imagine if in the civilizations of tomorrow, parents and society at large respected their infants as Masters of Creation, and provided for them the space of love they needed in order to discover this aspect of themselves on their own as they were growing up? Better yet, imagine if we practiced non-interference in regards to the lives of children so that they never lost awareness of their connection with the universe in the first place! The New Educational System Do not be misguided by the apparent age, build, or color of the physical body of any individual. For all human beings are spiritual entities of which the body is merely a vessel – as David Icke calls it: a ‘genetic spacesuit’ – and this is not our first time incarnate. We all have more knowledge, wisdom, creativity, love and power than we can fathom, and all that a human being needs in order to discover this aspect of themselves is time. Ultimately it is part of the natural spiritual evolution of all beings to remember/ return to this aspect of themselves. The tree grows just fine without our help, in the same way that a child will grow to surpass us so long as we give them the freedom to develop naturally. You cannot learn how to walk for your infant, any more than you can teach them how to walk. It is a completely natural process, and they do it all on their own time when they are good and ready to. Children are brimming with questions, and more importantly, curiosity. They want to know, and they love learning. It is inherent in the nature of the universe, and as extensions of the divine conscious awareness, it is also inherent within us. Standardized education is as ludicrous as establishing a school for teaching babies how to walk. I would venture to say that almost every parent can attest to the amazing rate of intellectual development in children, even within our misguided, fundamentally flawed system of education (and understanding of reality). A child learns language, motor skills, self-expression, and understanding of a great many of the objects and processes that make up their world all within a few short years after birth. If they continued learning at this exponential rate (as they do in the first few years of life – like a sponge), where would they be a few years down the road without the imposition of standardized education? For example, what if we provided them with the books, information, resources and space they needed to continue this wholehearted, exhilarating and natural exploration of their world on their own terms according to their own natural inclinations, and true nature? Free Learning Centers What if we had learning centers where age was irrelevant, and where the classes were divided according to subject instead. Then instead of being forced to sit through classes you didn’t enjoy, and at a level far below what you could handle, you could choose for yourself what classes you attended and what you learned all on your own according to your passion, your curiosity and your natural inclination? This freedom would be given to all children, and they would never be forced to attend these free learning centers. If they chose to begin attending at age 6 they would be allowed as readily as if they chose to attend for the first time when they were age twelve. Moreover they would not be restricted in any way and could choose to learn about whatever they wanted to learn about in an environment that was completely supporting, unprejudiced, non-judgmental and loving. If the child entered a class that was too advanced for them, they would be either pointed in the direction of a class that was more at their level or, if they preferred, books, online resources or study groups they could make use of to cultivate the knowledge base necessary to elevate them to the intellectual level necessary. There would be no tests, just knowledge. And because everyone was there of their own free will they would learn the material because they were enthusiastic and passionate about it. Not because they had to. I can say for certain that I personally did not start learning until after I finished high school and had the time and freedom to start searching for what I loved and was passionate about. In merely three years I have amassed more knowledge and grown more intellectually, energetically and spiritually than I did through 18 years of life. It is as if I picked up exactly where I left off when I was 5 years old, when I was forced into a school for the first time. I can only imagine what the world would be like if all children were given complete freedom and access to all information they desired from birth. These children would be brilliant, and – what is more – they would never lose their playfulness, imagination, bold independence and sense of wonder with the world around them. Essential qualities in all who truly enjoy life. Let Us Decide For Ourselves! I find it extremely interesting that the part of the brain that humans allegedly use for decision-making is the last section to develop, and it takes us sometimes well into our twenties until it is fully developed. Yet when we observe human development from a societal standpoint, I believe the reason is obvious. Most children have all their decisions made for them. From what they eat at meal times, their obligation (sometimes by law) to attend school, all the way down to the specifics of what they learn, how they learn it, and when they must learn it. Most children have no say in the matter, therefore it’s completely logical that the decision-making part of the brain is the last to develop, simply because it is the last thing we learn how to use. Bruce Lipton’s work on genetics, and specifically epi-genetics, has shown that our DNA and the genes coded and activated are determined by our environment. The energy of our environment, and more specifically our perception of our environment, determines our genetic growth. Therefore it is within the framework of this understanding that if we were put into situations and environments at a young age where we were given the freedom to make our own decisions and to exercise our power of choice, the decision-making part of our brain would develop naturally at an extremely young age simply because our environment would contain the conditions for this to occur. Ideally our decision-making ability should develop first because it’s our most important ability. Our ability to make decisions is the essence of our free will, and as such it determines who we are, who we become, and what we do with our lives. What if we were given full control over our destiny from the beginning as the Creator intended? It is not that children cannot make mature and intelligent decisions, it is that they are never given the opportunity to because of our limiting preconceptions about their level of intelligence and what they are capable of. We are under the preconception that children are, well, just children. But they are more than that, and so are we. And we need the freedom to decide for ourselves and to discover just what that is. Instead, what occurs is that we are thrown into life after our mandatory schooling is finished and we are expected to all of a sudden make important life decisions, such as knowing what we desire, where to go, or who to, with little to no prior experience in thinking for ourselves, making our own decisions or living according to our own free will. After years of literal domination most people are at a loss with what to do with themselves, so they just do what everyone else is doing. Perhaps that is by design. A Foundation In Non-Interference Non-interference is the foundation of the new educational paradigm. Not only the new educational paradigm, but the future of raising children, and in how we treat children and others in general. Non-interference is an awareness and an understanding of the nature of all beings as infinite intelligence incarnate, and thus we trust that all will grow and develop perfectly if we are given the space and the environment necessary in order to do so. Instead of interfering we would respect the children’s intelligence, uniqueness and independence, and honor their nature as children of the universe by treating them as the universal consciousness treats all of its creations … by respecting and honoring their free will to choose what they do and who they want to be. What would society look like if we treated our children as intelligent and capable beings? What would the world look like if we instead offered our children (and all humans for that matter) the complete freedom to learn, grow and express themselves according to their natural inclinations and unique creative expression? What if we practiced non-interference and simply created the space of love necessary for growth and learning to occur, as opposed to attempting to force and control what is otherwise a completely natural process? From personal experience and from observation I have discovered that when we have freedom to do what we please, which really means that we have the time on our hands to use as we choose, then we naturally use it for doing things that are beneficial to our development and which bring us joy, excitement, passion, growth, and thus, learning. I have younger siblings, and when I watched them during the summer or during holidays they would naturally use their time for reading books, exercise, yoga or other beneficial activities and pursuits towards which they were inclined. What is more, they had a bright light within them that could be seen in their eyes and in their smiles. Then it pained me to see (within myself as well) that as soon as they had to go back to school, the light was extinguished from their eyes, and their free time not spent in school was spent lazily on the couch, or dreading homework until they reluctantly had to face it and finally mustered the will to get it out of the way, without an ounce of enthusiasm. Sound familiar? That is not how learning should take place. Moreover I believe that it is completely counter-productive to learning, and is one of the reasons why many people in our society have such a negative attitude towards learning ingrained into them, which is why many stop learning and become stagnant later in life. Instead if we treated children as intelligent capable beings (because what else could they be as fractions of the infinite intelligence?) then they would naturally learn, develop and grow. They would learn through books, through their imagination and by direct exploration. And they would naturally be inclined to seek out other like-minded individuals who they could converse with, and wise teachers whose information they resonated with on a deep level with whom they could converse with as well and learn from. Now if only our children had centers like this for true learning to occur. If only we could establish them for the children! We would live in a world full of bright-eyed, confident, loving, blissful, compassionate and beautiful Gods and Goddesses – which is already the case, if only we would realize it. These children would be bright like the sun. They would change the world completely. Their inherent nature and connection with divine intelligence would be intact, in fact it would be cultivated with age, instead of severed. This is the message from the children. “They gave us no time instead of it all.”
